Gerard Butler, 13 Kasım 1969 Glasgow, Scotland doğumlu İskoç aktör. Boyu 1.88 olan aktörün lakabı Gerry'dir.Glasgow'da doğan Buter aslen bir İskoç. Annesi ve babasının boşanması üzerine, babası ile 16 yaşına kadar görüşmedi. Üniversitede okuduğu hukuk bölümün kişiliğine çok şey kattığını düşünüyor. Üniversite yıllarında bir rock grubunun vokalliğini yaptı. Mrs. Brown adlı filmin çekimlerinde buz gibi suya çıplak bir atlayış yapması gerekiyordu. Sahneyi başarıyla bitiren Butler, çekimin hemen ardından hipotermi geçirdi. Aynı filmin çekimleri sırasında nehre düşen bir çocuğu kurtardığı için The Royal Humane Society tarafında Cesaret Ödülü'nü kazandı. En sevdiği aktör Christian Bale.
